Al-Hawl village is located in the Harf-Sufian District of Amran. It’s here that many IDPs from Sa’adah and al-Jawf have taken refuge. Like many parts of the country, water supply is a major issue - for residents and IDPs alike. Since this area lacks any source of surface water, almost all people buy water for domestic use from commercial water tankers.

Al-Huda neighborhood in the District of Rada’a, Governorate of al-Baidha, have been suffering until recently from a polluted environment - the alleys were full of heaps of garbage and unsanitary conditions caused by overflow of sewerage water.

The contracting and construction sector in Yemen are now breathing easily and have seen a revival following threats of collapse and total disappearance from the local economic cycle. The current crises in Yemen had left major impacts; the more tragic ones were evident in the contracting sector, where contractors were pushed into the brink of bankruptcy and almost joined the cues for the poor and the unemployed.

Provision of water for residents and IDPs in the District of Jiblah – Governorate of Ibb – from a tank located in al-Mansoura needs a 20-30 days wait as per the distribution schedule. This has forced residents to try to meet their water needs for domestic use by buying water from water tankers – a matter that has aggravated the already stressed living conditions for both the residents and IDPs.

Al-Khadher Salman Masoud, 50, and a farmer from the village of Asilah (Halhel) in the Governorate of al-Baydha, reminisces about the times the farm retainer walls were swept away by torrent floods few years back - when crops were plentiful, and where part was sold and the rest stored. Today, the situation has changed: Al-Khadher Salman can no longer provide food to sustain his family for a full year.

Murad al-Jaghman, 50, a farmer from Jafinah – Marib -  in describing the situation of farmers in his areas, he said the situation today is so much better than before. Crop production of their farmers have increased, especially grains – and the arable land has nearly doubled. Livestock production has been thriving and residents are now food secure for the entire year.

The  street fish vendor, Mohamed Awadh, who is 45 years old and lives in al-Khassaf neighborhood - one of Aden's crowded quarters in the District of Seera - now moves easily in and about the alleyways of the neighborhood to sell his fish after the streets were stone-paved.

Ateeq Mohamed Khalil, a resident of the village of Akroub – al-Qubaya›a in the District of Qabaytah of the Governorate of Lahj –  speaks of the hardship people suffer because of water scarcity. Seasonal rain is sparse and light, and most springs and wells have dried up. Supplying clean water to homes is not accessible to many: People have to travel long distance, the roads are rough and rugged, and the water source may not be safe for peoples› health.
