The Public Works Project Organizes a Workshop on the Cash for Work Project

The Public Works Project (PWP) organized a two-day workshop last week on the Cash for Work Project - improving livelihoods for youth in urban areas of Yemen. PWP is slated to implement the project in partnership with UNESCO, with funding from the European Union, in the Old City of Sana’a, Aden, Zabid, and Shibam Hadramout.

During the opening session of the workshop, the manager of the first area of PWP, Abdul-Salal Qassim spoke about PWP’s successful experience in implementing the post-floods emergency interventions to repair some of the homes along the banks of Al-Saiyalah (flood stream), which was implemented in partnership with UNESCO.

He gave a brief introduction of the Cash for Work Project and the requirements and conditions of the project as included in the Project’s document.

Mr. Qassim underscored the importance of the heritage sector as an economic resource stressing the significance of safeguarding and rehabilitation of this sector.

UNESCO’s representative, Mr. Nabil Munasser, the coordinator of the Cash for Work Project in PWP’s implementation unit, Eng. Mohamed Thabet, and the finance and administration manager, Saleh Dawman made detailed presentations on the project, mechanism of work and how to immediately address challenges that may arise in the field during implementation.
