Planting of 62 Thousand Trees Within the Emergency Response Project.

Environment impact has been a main consideration in subprojects implemented by the public works project,pwp. Emphasis has been on tree planting as one of the main conditions set forth by the project implementation unit in the tenders documents.  Additionally,the pwp field staff conduct field follow-up from the start to completion of a subproject to ensure that suitable trees have been planted according to specifications.

Ever since the yemen crises response project,yecrp, was launched and  until june ,2017,62 thousand trees have been planted in various subprojects.
This unprecedented initiative is one of a kind being carried out in yemen. Local environmental conditions are taken into consideration when choosing nursling to be planted. The tender documents for subprojects’ implementation include specifications for the selection of trees that can withstand and adapt to local environmental conditions where the subproject is being implemented.

Earlier,the pwp had agreed with the world bank that the pwp will make  positive contributions to combating desertification in the country as part of  the pwp’s overall objectives,which aim at improving economic and environmental conditions in the country. With this achievement,the pwp is now a leading project in the reforestation program.
